Outsider Art Gallery

Outsider Art Gallery in De Nieuwe Liefde exhibits and sells work by contemporary outsider artists from the Netherlands and abroad. The gallery was officially opened by Queen Maxima in March 2016.

The artists who work at Outsider Art Atelier often have not followed a regular art education and operate outside the mainstream art world. Sometimes these artists have a mental or intellectual disability. Characteristic of outsider artists is an inner urge to create. The work they produce is fascinating, versatile and very pure. Fortunately, there is also growing interest in outsider art in the mainstream art world. Outsider Art Galerie offers a fully-fledged and inclusive art platform for these colourful artists in an inspiring museum environment.

Outsider Art Galerie is an initiative of healthcare organization Cordaan, De Nieuwe Liefde, and Museum van de Geest.

Currently, the depot can be visited (by appointment only) for the rental or sale of the artists’ works.
