Esrah van Rooij
Esrah van Rooij has been working as an artist for a number of years, creating visual art at Outsider Art Atelier and performing arts at Theater LeBelle. She has developed a distinct style and colour palette. She effectively paints subjects that interest her, such as Tintin, Adele, Jan Smit, and other characters from the world of comics and media, but animals and landscapes also feature regularly in her work.
In the past, she participated in an international video project with organisations from Brighton and Cork. For this project, she made the very personal film ‘My feelings’. In this film, she uses signs she painted herself to show the emotions in her life. From 2021, she will also be working with Jan Hoek and Duran Lantink, among others, and in 2024, her work was on display at ‘Ode to Women’ in the Amsterdam Museum.
In 2025, Esrah participated in the international art project Skywalk. A collaborative project with artists from Seoul, for which she travelled to South Korea to exhibit and gave a guided tour during the opening.
