Hans Schimmelpennink taught himself to paint. He paints directly with acrylic paint on paper or canvas. He always paints images he finds in art encyclopaedias. He is particularly interested in old masters and scenes with a lot to see. Hans usually starts in one corner of the paper or canvas and works his way through the painting calmly and step by step. In addition to being a visual artist, Hans is also very musical and plays in a band every week. In 2024, Hans was commissioned by the Rosewood Hotel to create a stunning portrait of Herman Brood, which attracted a lot of attention. Religious themes often recur in both his paintings and his music.
