Rudy has a philosophical outlook on life and often enriches his paintings with somewhat absurd but carefully found titles. A meaningful title of one of his paintings is for example: ‘the two-egged oneling’. Humans and animals are frequently seen in his artworks, but not in a realistic way. He often atributes animal features to humans or viceversa; a few of his paintings show centaurs and naked men with animal heads. Rudy calls these creatures ‘human-like animals’. He also enjoyes painting plants, boats and abstract figures. “I make strange leafs, which are unknown here and are maybe from another planet.” “I like the shape of the sails of boats, I used to navegate the canals of Amsterdam with my father.” His works reminds us a little bit of the ouevre of Belgian artist Rogel Raveel due to the combination of abstract and figurative elements. Rudy draws and paints because he enjoys these activities, but also ‘to become a bit rich.’ He would like to earn money of his art so he can be able to buy more art neccesities and ‘for making nice strolls’ through the city. He tends to wander through the city or tinker in his room during his free hours.
