Christiaan is extremely fond of anime and this is clearly reflected in his work. He combines characters and worlds from contemporary pop culture to create new worlds. Sometimes he also portrays himself together with the characters, making himself part of the other world. He is the one who has control over all these characters and makes them do what he himself devises. Like a true ‘Puppetmaster’. Working in the studio since 2023, he continues to expand his oeuvre with paintings of, among other things, animals he has seen in real life on a distant journey, such as a large, colourful iguana. In these works, too, you recognise the cartoonish backgrounds and spectacle. Very lively and sometimes with a dark edge.
